RacerTime (the “App”) and this website respect your privacy and are designed with a privacy-focused approach. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you use RacerTime on Apple, Google/Android, and Garmin platforms or visit this website, and how that information is handled.
Some features described below are optional and may not be available on every device, operating system, region, or version of the App.
1. Scope and Platforms
This Policy applies to RacerTime applications and related services made available for iPhone, Apple Watch, Android phones, Wear OS devices, compatible Garmin devices, and any companion or synchronization features we provide.
On Android phones and Wear OS devices, features may use Android system permissions, Health Connect (or Google Fit where still supported), Google Drive, Google Play Billing, Google Play services, and communication between a paired phone and watch. On iPhone and Apple Watch, equivalent features may use Apple system permissions, HealthKit, iCloud, App Store billing, and communication between a paired iPhone and Apple Watch. A reference to one platform does not mean that the same feature is available on every other platform. Android and Wear OS availability, supported versions, and feature support may change by App release, device, region, and platform requirements.
Apple Inc., Google LLC, Garmin Ltd. and their affiliates (“Platform Providers”) operate their own devices, app stores, accounts, health services, cloud services, and diagnostics systems. Their processing of information is governed by their own privacy policies and settings. Information you submit to RacerTime is submitted to Wind Powered, not to Garmin, Apple, or Google, except when you expressly use a feature that sends information to the relevant provider. Platform Providers are not responsible or liable for information submitted to RacerTime or for our privacy practices.
2. Information We Process
Depending on the device, permissions you grant, and features you choose to use, RacerTime may process:
- precise or approximate GPS location, route, speed, distance, direction, and altitude data;
- workout, race, training, and activity session records;
- heart rate and other health or fitness information you authorize;
- motion, heading, acceleration, cadence, and device-sensor information;
- buoy positions, timing events, performance metrics, and session analytics;
- App preferences, language, units, and device configuration;
- limited account identifiers or authorization tokens when you choose an optional sign-in, backup, or synchronization feature; and
- diagnostic, crash, purchase-status, and app-performance information made available by a Platform Provider.
RacerTime does not require an account for its core features and is designed to minimize the information it processes.
3. Location, Sensors, and Activity Data
RacerTime processes location and sensor data to provide user-requested features such as race timing, workout recording, speed and distance calculations, buoy positioning, route visualization, maneuver detection, navigation assistance, and performance analysis.
On Android and Wear OS, this may include precise or approximate location and, where the operating system requires it for an enabled feature, foreground or background location access. On iPhone and Apple Watch, the App may request the corresponding Apple location permission. Access occurs only after you grant the relevant system permission. Background processing is limited to supporting a session or location feature you started; RacerTime does not use location to track you for advertising. You can withdraw permissions in your device settings, although doing so may disable route, speed, distance, buoy, navigation, or related features.
Location is processed primarily on your phone or wearable. RacerTime does not upload location to a Wind Powered activity-data server. A route or related location information leaves the device only when you choose or enable a feature that transfers it, such as phone-watch synchronization, an export, an iCloud or Google Drive backup, or writing an authorized workout to HealthKit, Health Connect, Google Fit, or Garmin Connect.
Raw sensor streams are not permanently retained unless needed to provide a feature you initiate. GPS and sensor accuracy may vary due to hardware, environment, signal, battery, or operating-system limitations.
4. Health Data and Heart Rate
If you expressly authorize access, RacerTime may collect heart rate from a supported Apple Watch, Wear OS watch, Garmin device, or other compatible sensor while a workout or race session you start is active. Depending on the feature and platform, the watch may display and temporarily process live heart rate, send it to the paired phone as part of the active session, and store it with the resulting activity record. RacerTime does not use heart rate for advertising or unrelated profiling.
RacerTime may also read or write workout and fitness information through Apple HealthKit, Android Health Connect (or Google Fit where still supported), and Garmin device or Garmin Connect services. This may include workout sessions, heart rate, route, distance, speed, and related activity metrics, limited to the permissions and features you select. Permission to use a live watch sensor and permission to read or write a platform health store are controlled separately where the operating system provides separate controls.
Health and fitness data is:
- used only to provide or improve the health, fitness, sports, and activity features you request;
- not sold, rented, or transferred to data brokers;
- not used for advertising, marketing, credit decisions, or profiling unrelated to the App; and
- shared with another health or fitness service only at your direction, with your express consent, or where required by law.
You control these permissions through Apple Health, Android Health Connect or device settings, and Garmin Connect or Garmin account settings, as applicable. Revoking access stops future access. Copies already stored locally remain subject to the controls in Section 10; Garmin-sourced data retained by RacerTime will be deleted when you revoke consent or request deletion, as required by Garmin’s applicable developer terms.
5. Photos and User Exports
If you choose to export or save race images, screenshots, session graphics, or activity files, RacerTime may request permission to save content to your photo library, files, or another destination you select.
The App does not access, read, or analyze existing photos in the user’s library.
6. Cloud Backup and Phone-Wearable Sync
RacerTime is designed primarily for local-first storage. Race sessions, settings, and related information are generally stored on your phone or wearable. RacerTime currently does not operate dedicated backend servers for storing user activity data.
iCloud and Google Drive backup. If you enable an optional cloud backup, the App may copy App-created data such as race or workout sessions, routes, timing events, buoy positions, activity metrics (which may include heart rate), preferences, and configuration to your Apple iCloud account or Google Drive account. Sign in with Apple or Google sign-in is used only when necessary to authenticate the optional feature you request. RacerTime requests only the platform authorization needed for that feature and does not receive your Apple or Google password. Where the platform makes an app-specific storage area available, RacerTime uses that area or files created by the App rather than reading unrelated personal files.
Phone-watch synchronization. If you pair and use an Apple Watch or Wear OS watch, RacerTime may exchange the data needed to provide companion features. Depending on the feature you use, this may include timer and race state, selected mode, settings, units, buoy information, session status, location-derived metrics, workout records, and heart-rate or other sensor readings you authorized. Data may travel in either direction—for example, configuration and controls from the phone to the watch, and session or sensor results from the watch to the phone. Synchronization may occur automatically while an enabled session is active or when you initiate a transfer, backup, restore, or companion action.
Apple phone-watch communication uses Apple-provided device and connectivity services. Android-Wear OS communication uses Android, Wear OS, or Google Play services provided for communication between your signed-in or paired devices. Depending on device connectivity, a Platform Provider may relay synchronized data under its own privacy policy. RacerTime does not use phone-watch synchronization to send activity data to a Wind Powered activity-data server.
Other optional transfers may use Health Connect, Garmin Connect, or another destination you select. Garmin authorization, or other platform authorization, is used only when necessary for the optional feature you request.
Cloud copies are held in your account with the relevant Platform Provider and are subject to that provider’s terms, security, retention, and account controls. We do not receive your platform-account password.
7. Platform Providers and Diagnostics
RacerTime does not include third-party advertising SDKs, does not use third-party behavioral advertising platforms, and does not sell personal information.
This website records a small number of first-party, cookie-free events: page views, the broad device platform reported by your browser, language, and clicks expressing interest in iPhone, Apple Watch, Android/Wear OS, or Garmin. We use these aggregated events only to understand platform demand and improve the website. We do not use them for advertising, cross-site tracking, or user profiles.
Apple, Google, and Garmin may independently process app-store activity, downloads, device information, diagnostics, crash reports, and usage or purchase analytics under their own policies. We may receive limited, aggregated, or pseudonymous reports from them to maintain the App, diagnose errors, verify purchases, and understand reliability. You can manage available diagnostic-sharing settings through your device or platform account.
8. App Store and Google Play Billing
Purchases and subscriptions on Android or Wear OS are processed through Google Play Billing. Purchases and subscriptions on iPhone or Apple Watch are processed through Apple’s App Store and StoreKit. Purchases made through the Garmin Connect IQ Store or another authorized platform payment provider are processed by that provider. The relevant provider processes your payment method and billing information under its own privacy policy. RacerTime does not directly receive or store your full payment-card details.
To verify, restore, manage, and unlock a purchase or subscription, RacerTime may receive and process the product or plan identifier, transaction or order identifier, purchase token or receipt, purchase and expiry time, entitlement and subscription status, renewal or cancellation status, country or region, and other limited purchase metadata supplied by the platform. Apple and Google may use account, device, network, tax, fraud-prevention, and payment information independently under their policies. Purchase information is not used for advertising.
9. How We Use and Share Data
We process information only as necessary to provide features you request, save your preferences, synchronize or export data at your direction, verify purchases, maintain security, troubleshoot the App, comply with law, and protect users and our rights.
We do not sell personal information. Information may be disclosed only:
- to a Platform Provider when you use its store, account, health, cloud, or device services;
- at your direction, such as when you export or share a session;
- to service providers strictly as needed to operate a feature and subject to appropriate safeguards; or
- when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce our Terms, or protect rights, safety, and security.
10. Retention, Deletion, and Controls
Because most information is stored locally, you generally control its retention. You may delete sessions in the App, revoke permissions in system or platform settings, and uninstall the App. Local-only information may be removed when the App is uninstalled, subject to your operating system’s backup behavior.
Information synchronized to iCloud, Google Drive, HealthKit, Health Connect, Google Fit, Garmin Connect, a paired phone or watch, or another platform service may remain on the receiving device or service until you delete it using the App, device, or provider controls and may be retained in backups under that provider’s policy. Disconnecting a platform or unpairing a wearable stops future synchronization but may not delete data already sent to it. Deleting the App from one device does not necessarily delete copies on another device, in iCloud, in Google Drive, or in a health or fitness service.
To request access, correction, or deletion of information held by RacerTime, contact us at the address below. Because we do not require a RacerTime account and may not hold a server-side copy, we may have no data that allows us to identify you. Requests concerning data held by a Platform Provider must be made to that provider.
11. Security and System Limitations
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the information, including platform-provided security and encrypted transmission where network transfer is used. No device, storage method, or transmission is completely secure.
Features and protections may vary by device model, sensor availability, operating-system version, region, permissions, and limitations imposed by Apple, Google, Garmin, or other services.
12. International Users and Your Rights
RacerTime is operated from Chile. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. These rights may be subject to exceptions under applicable law.
Platform Providers may process information in other countries under their own policies. Where RacerTime itself transfers personal information internationally, we will use safeguards required by applicable law.
13. Children's Privacy
RacerTime is not directed toward children under the age required by applicable laws in their jurisdiction.
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time.
Any updates will be published on the official RacerTime legal pages with an updated revision date.
Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent before a material change takes effect.
